Why Supplements Are A Must Have In Your Diet

AD| Supplements are used in conjunction with a healthy diet to aid in your bodies overall performance. We often see people who exercise as only those who need supplements but we are all in need of some support due to deficiencies we may not know about.

Exercise supplements are aimed at individuals who take a hard regime approach to their health and many supplements are used to improve strength and endurance. They are needed with this approach because you are trying to make the body act in a way it wouldn’t necessarily. Protein is a well-known supplement, and it is used widely by those who exercise a lot. As you exercise the muscles in the body tear and as they reform they grow. Biologically we need protein for our body to effectively do this, which is why many people take additional protein to help this process.

When looking for the right supplement it’s important to find the one you want and need. Not all supplements fit the right dietary requirements for everyone as they contain different makeups. For example, some contain dairy, wheat, animal products and some are completely synthetic. There are arguments about synthetic supplements as many believe if it is synthetic the body doesn’t need it. So make sure to decide what you are willing to take before jumping in.

Some of the common supplements you may come across are;

Whey protein – this is actually a food, not a supplement, although it contains a large amount of protein it should not be used as a supplement. Using whey protein doesn’t require a lot of thinking as you can take it as and when you remember. Many people use whey protein to catch up on their daily protein allowance.

Creatine – Is a very common supplement. Creatine makes the body up to 20% stronger and aids in fat loss which is why it’s very common for people to use it when they are cutting. Some people are not receptive to Creatine and won’t see any benefit from taking it. Unfortunately, you won’t know if you are receptive or not until you start taking it. There is an optimum time during the day where Creatine is most effective, this is as soon as you wake up or straight after training. This is when your body needs the most nutrients so will absorb Creatine the quickest at these times. If you choose to use Creatine you need to work out how much you will need depending on your weight and build.

Pre-workouts – Pre-workout supplements are what you take before you work out. These give you more energy and allow you to push yourself more during your workout. These contain stimulants so be sure to only use them when you need them as you can cause insomnia from over-usage.
Each person is individual and it’s important to remember what works for one person may not be the same for you. Therefore, you must get advice from a personal trainer or nutritionist, such as Genesis supplements,  who can tailor a programme of supplements to you.
