I’ve been a big fan of exercise since I started working out on a regular basis in 2014. I’ve done lots of different types of exercise such as:
- cycling
- running
- weights
- at home workouts
- gym workouts
- cardio focused
- weight focused
- gym classes
- yoga
- personal training sessions
I think it’s so important to try different types of exercise and if you get bored of one thing, then just try something else! My exercise journey has evolved and changed over time to keep me interested
If you need a bit of motivation to work out here are some reasons why you should exercise:

1. Exercise Improves Your Mental Clarity
Exercise has been proven to improve your mental clarity and also reduces stress.
We all know how important exercise is for our mental health, but we often fail to be motivated enough to go out and get moving. I always find that it’s getting my workout started that’s the hard part! Once you’ve started, it’s much easier.
Exercise helps my mental health loads. It not only makes me feel good about myself, but it helps me sort out any toxic thoughts in my head and work through any issues I’m having. It’s like it helps me clear my mind so I can think clearly and approach difficult situations with the right mindset.
2. Builds Your Energy and Stamina
People are increasingly living a sedentary lifestyle with imposed schedules that require them to sit all day during work and leisure time. This lifestyle has a negative effect on people’s energy levels, mood, and stamina.
The quality of life is affected by the amount of sleep we get at night, the food we eat, and our physical activity levels. Activity levels are most often neglected in the modern lifestyle with many people only exercising their muscles during workouts but not their entire body (which is important for toning muscles and burning fat).
This lack of exercise leads to an accumulation of acids that cause fatigue and a buildup of toxins which can lower your mood and energy levels among other things.
So get moving to build your energy levels back up and increase your stamina in other aspects of your life. I’ve always said I want to be the type of person that can walk up a set of stairs when I’m older without huffing and puffing! Got to keep that heart healthy and cardio is the way to do that!
3. Strengthens Your Heart and Lungs
In addition to strengthening muscles, exercise improves circulation and decreases the risk of heart disease and diabetes. Exercise makes your heart stronger. This helps it pump more blood with each heartbeat. This delivers more oxygen to your body. With more oxygen, your body functions more efficiently.
4. Burn Fat to Lose Weight
Exercise is one of the best ways to lose weight. It helps you burn calories and also reduces fat from your body. It is important to do some research on the type of exercise you should be doing to lose weight. You need to consider factors like your age, gender, health condition and time available for exercise.
There are different types of exercises like aerobic and anaerobic exercises, resistance training, yoga etc. Aerobic exercises are good for people who have a lot of time on their hands because they burn calories at a slower pace than anaerobic exercises do. Resistance training helps you build muscle mass which can help with weight loss in the long run too.
5. Reduce the Risk of Chronic Diseases and Disabilities
Exercise is one of the best and most affordable ways to reduce one’s risk of developing chronic diseases and disabilities.
There are many forms of exercise that can be done in order to reduce the risk of chronic diseases and disabilities. One example is yoga, which has been proven to be beneficial for people who have certain conditions such as: Parkinson’s disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, arthritis. Yoga also helps to relieve stress and can thus improve your mood if it is low.
It is important to make sure you have a healthy lifestyle in order to be able to focus on your work or studies. Not only does regular exercise reduce the risk of chronic diseases and disabilities but it also helps you maintain a healthy weight, reduces stress levels and improves cardiovascular health
