PureGym Leeds Kirkstall Bridge

You might remember from my Fitness Update last month that my gym suddenly closed without warning to be turned into a trampoline park.

When I got home from my failed gym attempt, I had a leaflet through my door about a new gym opening very close to me in the new Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Centre on Kirstkall Road. Opening in November, I could get a new opening deal where it would only cost me £10.99 a month for the first year. I signed up straight away!

It opened last Tuesday at 3pm. I finished work at 3, so afterwards I went straight to the gym.

They had staff helping new members use the space age entrance – you gain entry using a pin number – then have to use it again to get into the changing rooms.

The lockers do require a padlock, which I didn’t know, so I had to buy a £4.50 one from the vending machines! You might want to take one with you if you plan on going to a PureGym – apparently they’re all like this!

After the initial frustration of trying to get into the changing room with my pin number and working out how to set the code on my new padlock, I was finally able to start working out!

The gym has that new smell, as you can imagine. It’s all very clean and there’s plenty of cardio equipment to pick from. Rows of treadmills, cross trainers, bikes, rowers, a couple of steppers and a couple of stair masters.

There’s a free weight area with kettle bells and dumbbells, as well as a room for classes.

The other side of the gym is a sectioned off area for spin class- and weight machines line the windows opposite the changing room doors. As always, these can be pretty hard to get on during the peak times!

Further on, is the.. um.. what I like to refer to as the ‘man area‘. You know, the section that has the bigger weights that the men go in and just kind of walk around looking all hench and spotting each other. Yes, that.

I’ve not managed to get a picture as I’m unable to get through the layer of testosterone that surrounds it, but it looks pretty decent!

I’ve managed to get there three times this week and I’m so happy to have a gym again!

I’m feeling very motivated and excited to be starting #Fitmas on Monday!

I love that new gym feeling! I remember when my gym first opened, I went down for a tour that first week and couldn’t sign up quick enough. There’s so much equipment so even during busier times there’s usually at least something I can get on. What I really like is all the free space they have so you can set yourself up in a quiet corner and do free weights etc without an audience and without getting in anyones way!
