If you want to make some changes in your life, then you need to start off small…and slow. There’s no point making a load of dramatic changes all at once, as it’s likely that you won’t be able to keep them up and will go back to your old ways. There are some really simple things you can do, to begin with, to get you into good habits and this doesn’t just mean swapping normal potatoes for sweet potatoes and white bread for brown, this is about your whole lifestyle and not just what you eat:
Swap The Car For Walking
Obviously not all the time, but where you can just be more conscious about taking the car. If your destination is walkable – even if it takes an hour, then walk it. It’s good to get fresh air, good exercise, and also helps the environment.
Swap Your Phone For A Book
Especially when you’re going to sleep at night, and you’re in bed, instead of looking at a screen, read a good book. Looking at a screen before bed can be detrimental to your sleep, so not only will you get a night of better sleep, have more energy, and feel really good the next day, but depending on what you’re reading, you may learn something new and expand your knowledge.
Swap Smoking For…Anything
Smoking is a hard habit to break, so if you need to move onto vaping first, then click here, but if you think you can go cold turkey, then you probably will have to replace it with something. When the mood strikes and you fancy a cigarette, most people turn to food, but if you turned to exercise instead, think ten sit-ups instead of a cigarette, then you could end up with a cracking pair of abs instead. It’s all about a distraction and something to get you over that craving. Do this for about three weeks, and you will have broken the habit and be in a whole new one.
Swap Inside For Outside
No matter what the weather is like, make sure you spend some time outside every day. The fresh air is so important for your health, both mentally and physically, and if you try and go for even just a short walk each day, you will soon notice the benefits and be a healthier, happier you.
Swap Worrying For Meditating
If you’re one of those people who have thoughts and worries going through your mind at all times, then it’s time for that to change. Try practicing meditation each day, have a time where you can clear your mind, and just focus on your breathing. This will really help to calm your worries, sort out your head, to think more rationally, and to feel happier and more relaxed.
Swap Distractions For Enjoying The Moment
When you’re walking to the train station or waiting for a bus, are you sat on your phone? Or thinking about all the things you need to do when you get home? Try swapping this for looking around and enjoying your surroundings, noticing the birds in the trees and the green leaves and blue skies. Be grateful for everything you have and notice the good around you, and you will feel a whole lot happier and healthier in life.
