Oh kay, the birthday is over.
I went to the gym 5 times last week. I took Monday off as my shoulders were hurting from the 20kg over head press. It felt more like joint pain than muscle pain and it hurt my back too. I’m not sure if my core is strong enough for heavier loads as I really felt it. Is that even a thing?
I also took Sunday off because HANGOVER. I knew I wasn’t going to go, so I made sure I went on Saturday, even though it was my birthday.
I’ve not made any increase on my bench this week, but I’ve not tried to either. I’ve been working on getting more reps in at 32.5kg. I’d like to be able to do at least 6 in a set before I move up weight. I currently do 3-4 reps over 5 sets, then lower the weights for more reps.
I did increase shoulder press, though, I went to 18kg/40lbs, which doesn’t really sound like a lot, but I really struggle with this and used to just do 10lbs when I first started at the gym. I’ve been working hard on getting this up. I do 3 sets of 8. I probably could do a single or double with more weight.
I still need to work on increasing my lat pulldown and cable row, but I’ve struggled to get the equipment. People are always using it when I go!
Next week will be interesting as I’ve got a load of busy days ahead of me! I’m going to London Tuesday for the night and Alton towers on Friday, and maybe to my parents at the weekend so I’m not sure what things will look like gym wise for me. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.
If you can’t get to the gym, why not do some home hiit workouts? At least that way you won’t feel like you’ve missed a day too much!
Sarah 🙂
