The start of 2015 was fantastic for me fitness wise. I was at the height of my health and I loved the way I felt.
Since moving house in July, I’ve struggled to get back into it seriously like I was before.
Truth is, a lot of stuff just kept getting in the way. Really good stuff, but still stuff. I was seeing a lot of friends, enjoying the summer, going on holiday.. the weight I lost from my marathon training slowly started to creep back on and while I was still exercising, I was just maintaining my level of fitness, rather than improving it.
In 2016, I want to get back to where I was last year, both weight wise and fitness level. I’ll be using the diary to plan my weeks and keeping up with the weekly fitness updates on a Monday as usual.
Fitness Goals 2016
Run Leeds Half Marathon.
I want to start training again for Leeds half marathon in January. I’m pretty confident I’d be able to run around 6-8 miles comfortably, but I want to start increasing my milage again to get ready, as well as doing interval training on the treadmill.
I’d love to beat the time I ran it last year.
I might enter the Great North Run and Manchester half, but we’ll have to see! It’s a bonus if I do.
Run 2 10km Runs
I want to run Leeds 10k and Leeds Abbey Dash like I have done the last two years. I am tempted to stick another one in if the opportunity arises.
Run Leeds 10 in less than 60 mins.
It’s been my goal to run a 10k in less than an jour for years. The closest I’ve got is 1hr 1min. I did the last Leeds 10k in 1 hour 4 minutes. I know I’ll be at the height of my fitness after just doing the half marathon, so I need to keep it up after the half to achieve me goals.
I just felt better and ran faster when I weighed less. I found the weight I’m happiest at – a good balance of being able to eat enough to have fun and being able to fit into all my favourite clothes. Want this again please.
Complete 30 Day Yoga Boot Camp
Last January, I completed Adriene’s 30 day yoga challenge, this year she is doing another challenge during January called Yoga Camp. I can’t wait to get started on this!
Be Consistent with Weights
I hate weights so much, but I know I need to do them if I want to increase my muscle mass and get stronger. I want to carry on doing more weight sessions like I was doing during #fitmas. The goal is to have toned arms.
So there you have it, my fitness goals for 2016. What are yours?
