In this post, we will look at a couple of tips that will make refrigerated trailer hire easy and safe.

1. Get professionals to install it
You can get VMS or refrigerated trailer hire on rental as self tows or you can have them picked up or even delivered to whichever location you desire. This can help ensure that you get an experienced technician to fully install the unit. It will also ensure you don’t need to get extra insurance and license entitlements.
2. Avoid moving it
After the trailer has been properly positioned and stabilized, it will have to be connected to a power source. Once this is done, you need to avoid moving it on your own. There are many problems that can happen if the trailer isn’t completely level. Some of these issues include problems with closing the doors, drainage, the fan or coils may get damaged etc. Be sure to call us if you need to have the trailer moved.
3. Park as close as possible to the power supply
The refrigerated trailer has to be parked close to the power supply since they typically have a short lead. Therefore, if it is placed a good distance from the power supply, this can cause drops in the voltage which will result in the unit malfunctioning.
4. The doors should always be closed
There are many complaints of refrigerated trailers being unable to stay at their desired temperatures, however, this is often due to the doors being opened too frequently or being left open in order for clients to retrieve or place goods inside of the trailer. Therefore, it is imperative that these doors are kept closed so that the fridge works properly, stays at a consistent temperature, prevents icing up and works as it should without causing any other issues.
5. Don’t overload the trailer
The shelves in the trailer are more than enough to provide for any cold storage needs that you may have. However, you need to avoid overloading these shelves. When you overload the shelves, this causes stress on the shelves. So, be sure to distribute your goods across the shelves so they don’t get overloaded.
6. Avoid changing the set temperature
As you access the controller of the unit, it is easy to accidentally change the operating parameters. This should be avoided since tampering with them can lead to poor performance of the unit and it may even get damaged. You should talk to the delivery driver to ensure that the trailer is properly configured to the temperature that you need. Be sure to find out exactly how to adjust the temperature so that you can safely do so yourself as needed.
