I have a slight addiction to MyProtein. Mostly their crisps.
I probably let myself buy some things from them once a month when they have a decent offer on. They recently had 20% off so I spent £50.
I’ve already posted about the MyProtein noodles last week, but I decided to try their vegetarian chilli and their protein cheese.
The veggie chilli has fantastic macros. This is the info on it:
Ingredients: Vegemince (27%) (Rehydrated Textured Soya Protein, Rapeseed Oil, Yeast Extract, Barley Malt Extract, Onion Powder, Salt, Garlic Powder, Dextrose, White Pepper), Mixed Vegetables in Variable Proportions (25%) (Carrot, Onion, Red Pepper, Green Beans (contains Celery), Sweetcorn), Tomato, Mixed Pulses (Pinto Beans (5.1%), Red Kidney Beans (5.1%), Chickpeas (3.1%)), Tomato Puree, Water, Soya Isolate, Spices, Maize Starch, Garlic Puree, Lime Juice Concentrate, Salt.
The cheese also has pretty decent macros, there’s the info on that:
Ingredients listed are just 2% fat milk.
First things first.
I bought two blocks of the cheese but it only had 6 days code life on it. Usually cheese has a much longer date, this means I basically now have just 1 day to eat the full block I have left. Not to chuffed about that.
I made a chilli with cheese on top.
I used a packet of noodles, a packet of the vegetarian chilli and 50g of the cheese – although I could have used much less as after weighing out 50g, I got board of grating it and just ate it, haha. There is probably about 15-20g on the chilli, but I’ve included 50g into the macros which comes to:
- 45g protein
- 28g carbs
- 7g fat
- 384 calories
That’s pretty good if you ask me!
The cheese tastes kind of like a mature cheddar. It doesn’t have that soft, rubbery texture like normal cheese though and is a bit like plastic. It’s nicer melted than on it’s own.
The chilli is really nice, it’s not spicy at all but I won’t say it’s the best chilli I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for the most delicious chilli you’ve eaten, you’re going to be disappointed, but if you’re looking for a very filling high protein meal that you can quickly make, then this is for you.
